The Family That Plays Together…. #WebkinzFriends

How do you have fun with your family? Having family fun time (or “co-play”) is a great way to keep a family strongly bonded, children connected to their parents, and siblings close to each other. Playing together is also a fun way to blow off steam and cheer everyone up, so whether you have a day each week that your family spends just with each other, or you goof around together every day, it’s important to be able to have fun together.

We have two boys, and we love to play with them. My sons like to play “Superman” (even my 4 month old). I lay on my back, lift them into the air on my knees, and they pretend to fly. I remembered playing this as a child with my own father, so just kept this fun tradition going into the next generation. We also sing songs together, dance around, and my husband has a silly sense of humor, fun for the kids and it keeps me laughing too.

Webkinz World, a safe online site for children that introduced the concept of web enabled toys, recently launched a new social game called Webkinz Friends to help families continue to have fun together. It allows teens and adults to relive Webkinz on Facebook, and creates a relationship between the two platforms so now everyone in the family can have fun in their own age-appropriate (and controlled, for the kiddos) environment.

I have a feeling kids will especially have fun with Webkinz pets, stuffed animals that are internet interactive. Members adopt pets, go on quests, decorate rooms, play games and chat within a controlled environment.

(I have a confession. When I was about 17, I had one of those virtual pets on a keychain that I had to feed, play with, etc every time it beeped by pressing the buttons and making sure all its needs were met. Or else it would die. And I was in college. And had a job. And I fed it while working. And it wasn’t even plush. So, this is something I can definitely see even teens getting hooked on and having fun with.)
