TAO Restaurant is an a great restaurant to go to when you want to go out on the town, are looking for a great bite, or want to try a hip new drink. There is a reason this hot spot is loved by the gals of Sex and the City- it’s fabulous!
If you’re looking for a reason to wear your sexy new strappy sandals, call up the girls and make a date to head on over to TAO Restaurant. The atmosphere at this popular Asian eatery is relaxed, but the air is full of energy and the food is delish. The rockin’ fun, young staff is down to earth and fun- if they notice you taking photos with your friends, don’t be surprised to find them trying to sneak in to the shot. Let the sixteen foot Buddha be your guide for the night- relax, let your hair down, and enjoy yourselves while feasting on the dumplings, and make sure you try the TAO Love Potion. And if you happen to be hanging out at the bar, don’t forget to look around. You might find Robert DeNiro sitting on the stool right next to you.
I have a great story to share. When my husband and I were dating, we went to a popular all night Chinese food eatery in the city known as Wo Hop. We wanted to be alone so we headed downstairs, away from the busy main floor filled with college kids, cops who just finished their tour, and city tourists. We found a big group of people (about 40) in the private downstairs area having an after-work karaoke party. It was obvious we weren’t going to have any alone time, but the friendliness of the group made up for it. They yelled for us to join their group, shared their food, and convinced my husband to belt out a few tunes, which he happily did (and he did a great job!)
Later, when we were preparing to leave, we found out we had been partying with the staff of Tao Restaurant, a fun, laid back group that wanted to unwind after their work shift and decide karaoke was the way to do it. Sometimes, there is nothing cooler than having a blast doing the uncool.
When I went to Tao for my bachelorette party, I already knew I’d have fun, and I did. Tao Restaurant is fabulous for dates, for happy hour get togethers with work buddies, for having dinner with out of town family, anything. I had the Love Potion and the dumplings, of course.

It sounds like a place I need to hit next time I’m in the city, because that price point says special occasion to me. Sounds like it has a great vibe and atmosphere.

I love Chinese food, unfortunately my husband does not so we do not eat a lot of it. Tao sounds like a happening place though.
