Frugal Living Through Cheap Insurance

This post is brought to you by a guest author on the importance of protecting your family by retaining insurance during financially lean times, and ways to do so.

How The Economy Affects Insurance Decisions

In this economy, people are looking to cut costs wherever possible. While no one wants to be without insurance, it could be one of the items that you look to cut out of your budget, or look for cheaper alternatives. Knowing how insurance costs impacts your family will go a long way toward deciding what types of insurance products will work for you.

The Role Of The Economy

If you do not have a job, or you are living with a tight budget, there might not be room for a lot of insurance. Premiums can be expensive, and you never know when you might actually use your insurance policy anyway. For those who are living in tight times, know that you can find cheap insurance quotes online and can find the cheapest insurance quotes through various websites. All it takes is some searching to find a policy that fits your needs and budget.

Importance Of Obtaining Insurance

Getting insurance is one of the most important things you can do for you and your family. Even if you decide to go with a cheaper policy, it is still going to be an important purchase. A policy might have a slightly higher deductible, or a higher co-pay, but it is better than having to pay 1,000 dollars every time you have to go to the hospital, or paying full price for medications. Over time, insurance policies will actually save you money.

Why Cheaper Insurance Isn’t Always Bad Insurance

Don’t let the price of your insurance policy fool you. There are many ways to get quality insurance for less these days. The Internet is full of companies that offer you some good insurance options that you would have never seen if it weren’t for the web. You might get generic drugs as opposed to brand name drugs, or other small modifications, but it doesn’t mean you are not getting a good deal.

Other Ways To Get Cheaper Insurance

Check with your employer to see what kinds of health care options that they offer. You never know if they have policies and plans that will fit your budget and get you access to the things you really need. Perhaps it is a little more expensive to go the hospital, but the prescription plan is much cheaper, which could help if you have an illness. Look into going into co-op plans, or enrolling in a health savings card where you can put money onto a card and save money on qualifying products that you can buy over the counter.

The cheapest insurance quotes can be found easily by looking online, and you can find policies from major insurance companies. You don’t know what you will find until you do a thorough search, and finding cheap insurance quotes online can save money and help your family stay protected.

  • There are SO many variations in insurance plans, and even though it can be time consuming to pore through them all, there’s usually something that works for everyone.

We really need to find a new insurance company. Thanks for posting.

I hate paying for insurance but it gives me peace of mind knowing that I’m protected just in case!

Thanks! Ours is okay, but hoping when we move to will get even cheaper!

  • I work in insurance and most of the time, if it’s too good to be true — it probably is. Just keep that in mind.

My job offers insurance. It’s $400 per person, per month. My husband has excellent coverage, but a rule just went into a effect that if spouses job offers it you cannot cover them. Very odd. So looks like I’ll be paying out the butt again soon.

Why is it their business if a spouse can get coverage, or even works? Seems like an invasion of privacy.

They’re cheap. It’s a union so they don’t want to pay more than they need to pay. I only found out after cutting my fingertip.. They wanted to revoke coverage right then and there. Thankfully my job doesn’t have open enrollment until July 2012, which in that case they can’t uncover me because there’s a clause that they have to cover a spouse if they aren’t able to access coverage. Hubby and I came to the conclusion that I will not be renewing my contract in July since we’re expecting. $400 for medical then $1000 for daycare is more than my monthly income since I only work part-time. We’d prefer one of us with the baby anyway. Kind of works out.
