Hallmark Recordable Storybooks~ Review (and Holiday Gift Guide Pick)

Hallmark Recordable Storybooks

Hallmark is a well-respected company that recently celebrated 100 years. Known for greeting cards, keepsake ornaments, memory-keeping scrapbooks and much more, Hallmark has branched off into many directions with products that help people celebrate milestones or express themselves for special occasions.

This year I learned that Hallmark offers recordable storybooks, and to me this is one of the most meaningful gifts for a parent or grandparent to share with a child. Maybe it’s because my father is getting older, or maybe it’s because a lot of friends have spouses that are away for business or deployment often, but I can’t think of a better way for a child to feel close to an absent loved one than to be able to hear their voice while they are away, whenever they want to.

Hallmark Recordable Storybooks make it easy for a parent or grandparent to leave a bit of themself with a child. There is a selection of books in this series, from Frosty the Snowman to The Night Before Christmas. We selected The Very First Christmas, a nativity story, and my father read the story for our son.

Hallmark Recordable Storybooks are a great idea for grandparents, or if you or your spouse are away often from your family. I plan to buy more for all little man’s grandparents and great grandparents to record. When he isn’t listening to them, I plan to store them safely away and keep them to give him as a gift when he is older, as a worthy family heirloom created just for him. My father was very touched by the idea of recording his voice for his grandson to hear him read to him whenever he wants, and I’m happy that there is a product like this that allows me to do this for my son.

I think that's a really sweet idea – I spent much of my childhood here in the US away from my paternal grandparents back home in England and my maternal grandparents, who lived in Australia – but we stayed close by writing letters and recording cassettes. Love the idea of keeping this as an heirloom as he gets older, too – he will treasure those precious memories!

My MIL lives four hours away, so we don't see her often. This would be a great product for her to share with my kids. Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely LOVE these books. I was lucky enough to buy one two years ago and have my Mother record her voice reading the story. She sadly passed away last September, but it is great to have her read a story to our kids over and over even if she can't be here physically. I'd tell anyone to buy these!
