Valentine’s Day is the holiday we celebrate our loves, and while most of us focus on our significant others, all parents can agree with this: Our children are the loves of our lives. My husband is my hero, and I have three Valentines I adore and want to surprise this year- him, and my two sons!

Kids love chocolates, they don’t care about a fancy dinner or flowers or jewelry. When you plan a Valentine’s Day gift for your child, of course it’s going to be centered around chocolate and candy! I found a great deal of treats from Hershey’s this year centered around Valentine’s Day, allowing me to have fun and be creative in how I surprise my son.

Kids love surprises and anything that looks fun. The classic Hershey’s candies, like Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kat Miniatures, and Jolly Rancher Lollipops are all they need to be happy, and discovering the new Hershey’s Kisses Conversation Candies (found at Target) and Reese’s Conversation Cups will allow me to give them what they love and share messages of love- how sweet!

Create a Valentine’s Day Gift Basket

To make our DIY Valentine’s Day basket, we used a pretty gold wire basket and filled it with recycled, shredded paper. Each of my son’s helped me create the basket for the other, and we sprinkled Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate, as well as Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Miniatures with little honey bees, throughout each. Each basket has their beloved Jolly Rancher Lollipops in flavors like Cherry, Pink Lemonade, and Green Apple, and the center piece of it all is a large, red Reese’s Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Heart- they’ll want to take a big bit out of that!

Of course, no edible chocolatey treat is complete with Kit Kat Wafers! It was my older son’s idea to frame his brother’s basket with them for a little extra yummy sweetness. I can’t think of a better way to send my sons my message of love, than through a gift basket of their favorite edible treats, and a gift tag sharing a sweet note to make them feel special!
