10 Fun Summer Learning Activities

Learning loss is a summer phenomenon where kids tend to forget some of what they are learning in school over a long, lazy hot summer of mindless fun. Summers should be fun, children need a break, but that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop! Here is a round up of activities that are fun […]

  • You are so right; summer is a time when kids aren’t in school mode at all. It’s a great idea to find fun and enjoyable learning activities. Wonderful roundup!

  • Great list! I pinned it! You have to be so creative with activities in the summer since it’s so hot here in TX.

  • We try to homeschool through the summer, though we seemed to take a lot of July off. They do tend to forget and then there’s tons of review when they go back, that’s why I wanted us to continue to skip all the review…it gets boring for them.

  • What a fun list of educational activities. My kids always get a real kick out of dry ice.

Less Spills, More Fun #MomTrust @PlaytexBaby

My younger son is two, and while he is quickly learning to do a lot for himself (and insists he always be allowed to try), he still doesn’t always fully grasp the concept that leaping onto the sofa while holding an open cup can spill his beverage everywhere. He’s still shocked and yells “Mama, look!” […]

  • I’m glad these are working out for your younger son. It’s definitely important to keep them hydrated and it’s even better if they ask, therefore making your job easier.

  • This sounds like the perfect cup for Zeva. She’s also a two year old who doesn’t realize that she’s making a royal mess with her drinks.

  • These sound like really good, non-leaking sippycups! I think I might have to pick Kellan up some!

  • My kids had closed spill proof cups with lids until around four years old. We always used Playtex too. It was just easier to have peace of mind then constantly clean messes and change outfits.

A Summer Of Date Nights #SummerOfGroupon

This post brought to you by Summer of Groupon. All opinions are 100% mine. If there is one thing lacking around here, it’s date nights. My husband and I are so busy with work and our kids, and we don’t really have any grandparents to help us out much, that we don’t get to spend […]

Men Like Pampering Too #SummerOfGroupon

This post brought to you by Summer of Groupon. All opinions are 100% mine. So my husband was perusing Groupon‘s Summer Shop recently when I left the site open on my laptop. We recently found a lot of great deals for massages, family activities, great restaurants, and I even indulged in a mini-mom makever that […]

  • I asked my boyfriend if he’d be interested in this, and sadly he said no. lol

  • Penelope

Lol…some men like to be hairy 🙂 I actually love my husband’s 5 o’clock shadow, but he wants to laser his face too! (He hates shaving, he has to do it daily because it grows so fast and thick)

  • My hubby is barely hairy at all. But, my brothers are hairy baboons, lol! And they are always shaving.

  • I love that there are services for men too.

  • OH how I wish my husband would get this done on his face. He can be hairy everywhere else and it doesn’t bother me a bit. In fact, I love a bit of chest hair, but I can’t stand facial hair. I love reading about your adventures and savings.

  • I like a little hairy. 🙂 I think my husband would do it if I wanted him, too. Was it painful?

  • Penelope

Yes! He said he had to keep asking the technician to pause because it hurt so much.

  • I hate shaving. I would love to get laser hair removal. It’s just not in my budget right now.

  • Penelope

When you are closer, check out Groupon because they offer 3 sessions for the price of one so it will go farther with one of their deals. I had it done years back and haven’t shaved my legs or underarms in years, it’s amazingly freeing!

  • OH how neat, glad to see he enjoyed pampering! I always wondered if that would hurt or not!

  • I’ve had laser hair removal and when I was coming up on going for a year every 6-8 weeks I stopped going. The majority of the hair is gone but not completely gone it is on my list of things to do, to go back and finish the treatments. I had a “for life” so I can go back any time to finish. This just reminds me that I need too.

  • I have always wanted to do this. A Groupon would be a great way to get started. Thank you to your husband for sharing!

  • I’m happy that everybody is able to take advantage of the great deals on Groupon. I don’t think I could talk my husband into that though. What is the pain factor like?

  • Penelope

Painful 🙂 He really wanted to do it though. I definitely didn’t push it!

  • Love that Groupon offers pampering deals for men not only women.

A Manhattan Getaway

My husband has been wanting to take me away a while. Just some time away from our daily lives and chores, which I thought it sounded like a great idea, but the search for the perfect hotel, the planning, etc seemed overwhelming for us when we are already always so frazzled. Then I found some […]

  • What a great (unplugged) getaway! I haven’t had one of those since, well, I started blogging 4 years ago! So glad you all had a fun time in the city. I’m curious to see what sweets that Dylan’s Candy Shop carried.

  • Sounds like such a fun weekend! I want to take my family to NYC sometime. We need to do another Chicago weekend getaway as a family, too.

  • Look’s like you had a great trip. And it’s always amazing to be upgraded.

  • Okay, those firemen pictures are killing me! How insanely adorable!

  • How fun! That looks like such a fun day full of adventure! I live in Kansas so to be able to go and do and experience a day in the life would be so fun!
