Baked Macaroni & Cheese With Crumbled Bacon

We love to mix it up a lot, and I was recently asked to create a fun version of traditional macaroni and cheese…considering what a favorite comfort food that is around here, that was no problem!

Here is my recipe for Baked Macaroni & Cheese With Crumbled Bacon.

baked mac and cheese

Ingredients
16 oz macaroni (elbow pasta)
2 tbs butter
1/2 cup milk
8 oz cheddar cheese (cut into small cubes)
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled (or 1/4 cup bacon bits)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350º F.
2. Boil macaroni in a pot of salted water to al dente (about 5-6 minutes). Turn hurt to low and drain pasta, then return to pot.
3. Stir in butter, milk, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Add in cheddar cheese in small chunks and stir until macaroni is well coated, then add in parmesan cheese and crumbled bacon and stir together over low to medium heat.
4. Place macaroni and cheese in a bacon dish, and bake for 15 minutes at 350º F.
5. Serve and enjoy our Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Crumbled Bacon recipe!

Tips: Cut cheddar cheese into very small pieces to melt faster. Using packaged macaroni with cheddar cheese as an alternative for some ingredients is also fine on days you have less time.

This is a family favorite, because who doesn’t love macaroni and cheese, and who doesn’t love bacon?? A baked version adds that much more flavor and delicious texture.

Do you have a favorite go-to comfort food? We have so many, but I love how adding a little bit of this or that to mac and cheese just results in the most delicious surprises!

  • I love both mac and cheese and bacon! Our favorite go to comfort food is a delicious homemade soup, oooh and chowders! 🙂

The best Mac n cheese I’ve tasted had cauliflower through it. Divine.

    Ooh, what a yummy twist!

You had me at bacon! We’re usually just lazy and shake some bacon bits on top of it 😉 But really I could use the pre-cooked slices, why have I never done this before?!
