Help @VSPVisionCare Offer Free Eye Exams to Needy Children + a $200 Visa Gift Card #Giveaway For You!

free eye exam for needy children

VSP Vision Care is on a mission to provide up to 50,000 at-risk youth in America with over $19 million in free eye exams and eye glasses this year. Through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, VSP has launched the Eye Pledge Campaign to provide them with what may be the most important exam they take all year. Eye health plays a critical role in your child’s ability to learn, play, and develop, and unfortunately, one in four students across the country has a visual impairment problem, many of which go undiagnosed.

Boys and Girls Clubs of America

VSP is offering readers an opportunity to participate in this wonderful cause at the same time as entering to win a terrific prize as well. To enter, simply take the VSP Eye pledge and let us know why you feel eye health is important. Taking the VSP Eye Pledge involves nothing more than visiting their site and clicking, and each pledge provides a child with a possibly life-changing eye exam. Even if you don’t enter to win the prize, please take the pledge and share it with your friends and family as well.

The winner will receive their choice between a $200 Visa Giftcard or a VSP Experience. The VSP Experience includes the following:

  • an exam at a VSP doctor (you can find a doc near you at www.vsp.com)
  • a Lens/Frame of up to $130 in value (or contacts in lieu of lenses and frame) -or- a $130 allowance towards contact lenses/fitting
  • Covered lens options included in the VSP Experience are Blended Bifocals, Progressive Lenses, Photo chromic, Plano Lenses, Tints and Dyes, Scratch resistant coating, Anti-reflective coating, and rimless mounting.

HOW TO WIN A $200 VISA GIFT CARD:

To enter, please take the VSP eye pledge, providing a child with a free eye exam and possibly a much needed pair of glasses, and come back here and let me know you did, along with why you took they pledge and feel eye health is important.

Taking the VSP Eye Pledge is totally free for you and only takes a few seconds, just follow these three easy steps:

    (1) Go take the VSP Eye Pledge by clicking here.
    (2) Pledge to yourself to take care of your eye health, which is an integral part of your overall health
    (3) (optional) Direct the donation to either the local club of your choice (by inserting your zip code) or a club in the U.S. with the most need.

    Extra entries:
Retweet the VSP Eye Pledge campaign and giveaway or share it on facebook (can do daily).
Refer a friend to take the pledge for 3 extra entries for both you and your friend (please leave a comment letting us know who referred you).

Contest ends November 4th, 2011. A winner will be randomly chosen with Random.org and contacted by email. Winner has 24 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.

I took the pledge. It’s very important to keep your eyes healthy and especially important for children to have healthy eyes. My eye problems were discovered when I was a kid. It’s a genetic thing that runs in my family. We all have the same problem. It made seeing the blackboard difficult and I had nasty migraines. It negatively affected my learning. The same thing can’t happen to other children that happened to me simply because they can’t afford to have their eyes examined. That’s not right. They deserve the chance to succeed as well and ofr suvh a minor thing as an eye exam, I think it’s totally worth it. Who knows. Perhaps that free eye exam may be given to a future doctor, rocket scientist, president or even better the person who cures the various cancers that affect so many today. Yeah, I say it’s worth it.

    • Geoff K

I took the pledge! Eye health is important to me because I struggled with terrible headaches as a kid before my family could afford to take me to the eye doctor, and I remember the instant relief I had with my first pair of glasses. I think eye care is important because as with any health issue, you want to catch things early so they do not progress too far along for an easy fix. In addition to that, good eyesight (either natural or correctively-so) is important from everything to reading, to seeing a lecture on a black/white board, to driving, and many thing in between.
