The LEGO® Americana Roadshow: 9 LEGO National Monuments

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of GGP at Bridgewater Commons for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

We are major LEGO® fans, but really, aren’t most people? So rather than talk about how much my sons love LEGOs®, how much I think they inspire great creativity in children (and keep them off gadgets), and how utterly fun these classic toys are, I’m going to share that LEGO® has taken its show on the road, in the The LEGO® Americana Roadshow!

The LEGO® Americana Roadshow

The LEGO® Americana Roadshow is a traveling display of large scale LEGO® models replicating some of the nation’s most iconic and well-known landmarks. The Roadshow will appear at various locations across the US until October 2016:

Beachwood Place, Beachwood, OH: 5/14 – 5/30
Northbrook Court, Northbrook, IL: 6/18 – 7/4
Baybrook Mall, Friendswood, TX: 7/30 – 8/14
North Star Mall, San Antonio, TX: 8/20 – 9/5
Fashion Show, Las Vegas, NV: 9/24 – 10/9
Alderwood Mall, Lynnwood, WA: 10/15 – 10/30

We recently visited Bridgewater Commons in New Jersey just to see the one-of a kind exhibits, and it’s pretty amazing. It’s free for everyone, and a cool way to inspire interest in our children about our country’s history and government, and also to see that anything can be created with LEGOs® with some imagination. My sons were in awe, and wanted to come back home and start building their own massive buildings!

The LEGO® Americana Roadshow will be at Bridgewater Commons at 400 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 until April 17th, before heading back out on the road. If you are local (or want a really fun idea for a way to spend some time with the family), head out to check it out. You’ll see:

Kind of awe-inspiring, right? The work that goes into these is so detailed, and they are huge, to scale, and just so detailed. The people mulling about were so nice, they took turns clearing out the area in front of each monument for other families to take pictures so we had a pretty good view each time, and just loved the intricate details of everything… with each step closer I was more amazed with the talent and thought that went into each LEGO® masterpiece.

Each monument was amazingly detailed, so when you go, make sure to view it from all sides, and get up close to see the details, like carved stone, moldings, engraved words, etc… then expect your kids to drag you over to the LEGO® Store, where more amazingness awaits (yep, we bought a lot of stuff). There were small scale LEGO® exhibits throughout that were pretty funny (including one of Manhattan with a sewer hole that you had to look for, with a hidden construction worker running through an underground tunnel filled with rats and spiderwebs, trying to escape something – who came up with this?? soo funny!!)

My sons like anything with Super Heroes and action…

And my husband is obsessed with Ghostbusters. Still. Today. My husband asked me to buy the LEGO® Ghostbusters Firehouse for him for his birthday… it’s that cool. It opens up to reveal an interactive inside of the firehouse, and I kind of want it too ♥︎

Make-and-Take Independence Hall Monument

The weekend of April 9th and 10th at Bridgewater Commons will feature a Make-and-Take event during which a limited number of mini Independence Hall monuments are given away to attendees (so try to get there early). The event is each day from 12pm noon to 4pm.

Enter the sweeps!

If you can guess the number of bricks in the in-mall contest (one winner), you can win a prize of a $100 LEGO® gift card, along with the satisfaction of being a genius.

There is also a digital contest for a prize of a $100 LEGO® gift card with three different entry methods (one winner for each entry method, so three chances to win):

– Instagram- enter by taking a photo of the exhibit at the mall and post it to your Instagram account along with tagging @bridgewatercommons and @LEGO and including the hashtag #LEGOAmericana so they see your entry.
– Online RSVP/entry form- RSVP to the event for a chance to win.
– By mail- See official rules for details: LEGO® Roadshow.

A Fun Family Day

Since we knew we wanted to make a fun family day of our trip to Bridgewater Commons, we enjoyed a quick dinner after at Shake Shack. There are lots of dining options both within the mall and down the block at The Village, like The Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano’s, Starbucks, and the theater is an AMC Dine-In Theater with a full menu and great bar area (perfect for going to the movies with friends or a date).

There were lots of great stores to shop at for me too, like Lush and Free People (two of my favorites!), so I had to do a little “me” shopping while there too.

A fun, fun family day! You can find the Bridgewater Commons website here to plan your family day, and find out more about the LEGO® Roadshow.

The LEGO® Roadshow is going national!
