Star Wars Back To School Lunches

Last year I signed my son up for the hot lunch program at school, and thought he’d be thrilled to have burgers, chicken fingers, or pizza for lunch every day. Instead, he pouted over not being able to bring lunch from home to school anymore like he used to (in preschool where there was no hot lunch program) and repeatedly begged me to pack him a homemade lunch. He has a cute pouty face, and I just can’t say no.

So, for the 2016-2017 school I decided to make him more hot lunches, and to make them more fun (to remind him how special he is to me). I’m using Glad Disney Star Wars Multipacks,, because I can’t think of a better way to make their back to school transition more fun for them then with Star Wars surprises in their school lunch.

I headed over to my local Walmart for everything, including kid-sized snacks and grocery items, since Walmart has everything in the world I could ever need for anything, including back to school lunches. The lunches need to be both nutritious and easy to eat for children (without being a choking hazard) so I picked up a variety of food items that would give them all the vitamins growing boys need, as well as Star Wars themed Glad Disney multipacks to pack up their homemade lunches in.

And then I got to work, trying to make some fun bento lunches for them. I tried to make Chewbacca. It was my first try, I’ll get better as the school year goes on. The main point is that it’s healthy, and the boys like it ♥︎ Chewbacca is made of brown rice and surrounded by string beans, a healthy snack and part of lunch, and he fits perfectly into the Star Wars Glad Disney small rectangle container.

I also made a healthy Princess Leia bento lunch in the medium square container, a perfect size to be creative with sandwiches, wraps, etc. Don’t forget to add in those healthy veggies- it holds the food art in place and rounds out a nutritious lunch, and the Glad Disney Multipacks seals tight so their lunch is as fresh as it is fun. Use a red bell pepper for the lips instead of orange- my son didn’t like her orange lips 😉

He loves Star Wars so much that he’s seen every movie and can’t wait for future installments- but let’s be honest, my husband and I love them too. There isn’t a Star Wars themed toy he doesn’t want, and has the toy collections across multiple brands. A good parent gives those kids what they want. Moms, dads, give them Star Wars!

There are Frozen themed Glad Disney Multipacks as well for fans of Frozen (another great movie), so you pretty much have your bases covered with all your kids. The Glad Disney Multipacks are reusable and BPA free, and can be washed in the dishwasher or used in a microwave. The 14 piece multipack sets are only available at Walmart and Walmart.com, and since they seal tight to protect their lunches and keep them fresh, it’s a good idea to stock up.
