Valentine’s Day Inspiration – Crafts, Recipes, & Activites

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I love cooking and decorating our home to prepare for upcoming holidays. This year my sons are old enough to help me with Valentine’s Day crafts, as well as bake up some goodies and decorate, so it’s an especially fun year for me because we are spending time together. Here is a wonderful collection of ideas for fun treats, DIY Valentine’s Day themed home decor, family activities, and much more to help fill your heart with love as you celebrate the ones you cherish most.

Décor & D.I.Y.

Valentines Day Decor Ideas

Inexpensive Heart Tree – For an inexpensive DIY project, take to the woods & find twigs. With a little felt, you can make a seasonal decoration in just a few minutes.

Chair-Back Envelopes – Deliver your children’s valentines to their own personalized envelopes. Some beginning sewing knowledge is needed, so I may send this link to Grandma!

Photo Bunting – A holiday all about love needs decorations that show how much you cherish the ones you love. This bunting adds so much to the already adorable chalkboard.

Patterned Garland – There are so many garland ideas, and I want to make them all! Using garland in places other than a mantle make it easy to spread the love throughout your home.

Graphic Options – If pink isn’t your style, choose something more graphic. These bold pillows are perfect for cuddling while watching a romantic movie.

Heart-shaped Meals & Snacks

Valentines Day Recipes and Treats

Fluffy Homemade Waffles – This yummy sounding waffle recipe has me on the hunt for a waffle iron that will serve up heart-shaped breakfasts.

Strawberry Skewers – Naturally heart-shaped, strawberries are a natural and sweet snack for your little valentine.

Stuffed Sandwiches for Lunchboxes – This year, the holiday falls on a Saturday. Lead up to the day with a few Uncrustable-style sandwiches to show how much you care.

Valentine’s Day S’mores – Homemade graham crackers & marshmallows, dipped in chocolate make this treat a true statement of love

Heart Shaped Pretzels with Pink Sea Salt – Celebrating with seasonal treats doesn’t only mean sweets. These scrumptious homemade pretzels would be a hit in my house.

Heart Shaped Pizza – Our favorite local pizza place offers shaped pizzas for the 14th, but this DIY version uses premade pizza crust to make a kid-friendly meal.

Sorbet Sandwiches – Make a heart-healthy dessert by swapping out ice cream for sorbet in these charming ice cream sandwiches

Fun Family Activities

Valentines Day Crafts

Conversation Heart Science Experiments – I adore these seasonal treats and it feels just wrong to do anything other than gobble them up, but giving you children an opportunity to explore their predictions about what will happen when you place them in vinegar or microwave them makes the sacrifice worthwhile.

Make Borax Crystals – This science project can easily become a sparkly decoration when hung from ribbon

DIY Window Cling – My love of puffy paint didn’t end in the sixth grade. This easy project can be adjusted to any style.

Rose Scented Play Dough – With the floral scent, this rose-scented play dough recipe would bring dozens of hours of fun.

Birdseed Tree Ornaments – The “You’re a Tweet heart” packaging puts this birdseed tree ornament over the top in cuteness.

Salt Dough Fridge Magnets – Totally customizable, these sweet little magnets would make great gifts for family or neighbors.

Before we know it, Valentine’s Day will be here! I’m spending the month with my little Cupids making crafts & seasonal treats. How do you prepare for Valentine’s Day?
