Friends, Football, and #QuesoForAll

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of RO*TEL & VELVEETA . All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s time for kick off, and of course that means football fans everywhere are going to be hosting tailgating parties for all their friends. It’s no different here, mainly because while the guys in my family love football, I love a good party. Since I’m the hostess, I have to make sure the spread is delicious and fun to keep them engergized while they root on their favorite teams.

The food is always my favorite part of our tailgating parties. We always serve different party appetizers for our family and friends to nosh on, and for all of it- veggies, nacho chips, pretzels, and chicken taquitos, Queso is the perfect dip for it. … We make our Queso dip with RO*TEL and VELVEETA because it’s so zesty and creamy, and it’s so easy to make in minutes. It’s yummy, and everyone loves it!

(even my mom)

I can also easily keep whipping up more as the crowd eats it up. Ro*Tel® Famous Queso Dip is made with only two ingredients, so how much easier can it get? Of course, I like to mix it up a bit and add some ground beef sometimes, or some peppers or beans and corn, but for our party this year I though a Build Your Own Queso Bar would be really fun… everyone could add their own fixings! Making Queso is super easy…Ro*Tel® Famous Queso Dip combines a ratio of one undrained can (10 ounces) of Ro*Tel® Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies with one 16 ounce package of Velveeta® cut into 1/2 inch cubes, heated and mixed together in a saucepan. It’s easy to double for bigger parties or halve if I’m just making it for a snack for myself, and it tastes good with sooo many things!

Build Your Own Tailgate Party Queso Bar!

Maybe you like some chopped olives in your Queso, or maybe you like some meat? Who am I to judge? I just serve, and created a Build Your Own Queso Bar for our guests to decide what strikes their fancy and make their own dip!

On the left I set out our easy to make, flavorful Queso, and on the right I placed a basket of tortilla chips and chicken taquitos, and in the middle are all our fixings for our guests to add to their Queso. We laid out a plate each of:

– chopped veggies (multi colored bell peppers)

– seasoned ground beef

– chopped cilantro and lime wedges

And of course, cups for our guests to enjoy beverages. They loved being able to choose their favorite toppings at the Build Your Own Queso Bar and everyone pretty much dipped their chicken taquitos into some Queso for each bite too. It’s a fun time of friends, football, and Queso For All!

  • I don’t know how just those 2 ingredients taste so darn good in that dip, but they really do. I love that flavor. It’s a must for a game day!

  • Terri

How fun! I’ve seen several “bar” type set ups but this is my first time seeing a queso one.

  • Vanessa

This looks so tasty for a tailgating party. I love the new design for your site as well!

  • Anne

You know I’ve never hosted a football party. My parents always did. If I did this is what I’d like to serve.

  • Tammy

That’s so fun! We did something similar last year for Cinco De Mayo where we had a ‘Dipping Bar’ for Taquitos. I had all kinds of salsas and dips to choose from, including of course…Queso! I should do it again for SuperBowl this year.

  • Kait

I used to LOVE this dip but I over killed it my first trimester and then got horribly sick. Lesson learned. Maybe it’s time to,try it again haha

  • Penelope

I was the same way my first trimester, craved specific things and way overdid it, and then didn’t have it for years after! If you don’t overdo it, it rocks 🙂

  • Crystal

Allowing guests to be able to fix their plates themselves means everyone ends up with the perfect tailgating snack. And when you top it off with queso, you just can’t go wrong!

The NFL season only ended a few weeks ago and I already miss football so much! Luckily, we are a queso loving family and definitely intend to indulge a few times throughout the year.
