Protect Their Sweet Cheeks #EndTheRed

This post brought to you by Balmex. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis.

My sons had the sweetest cheeks as babies, adorably kissable and irresistibly pinchable. It was soft and smooth and perfect, and like most babies, made them super cuddly.

There were times though that their other cheeks weren’t so smooth…during the diaper years. My younger son still wears diapers overnight, when a soiled diaper is more likely to stay in contact with sensitive baby skin longer, and he’s more susceptible to getting diaper rashes as a result, so I have to make sure I still care for his fragile baby skin.

Baby skin is more sensitive and vulnerable to irritants than adult skin, and moisture and irritants trapped inside a soiled diaper are really harsh on a baby’s tender skin. When the presence of irritants is prolonged or repeated, it can cause the skin to break out into an angry rash…it doesn’t look good, and it can be painful for a baby.

balmex always in purse

Balmex Diaper Rash Cream is a lifesaver for us as long as we have a child in diapers, because it is proven to reduce redness in a single diaper change and protect against further irritation. Balmex is the only diaper rash treatment with ActivGuard, which helps to neutralize the harmful irritants in wet or soiled diapers, so it not only helps treat diaper rash, but prevent further diaper rash irritation.

Fight irritation. End the red. Use Balmex instead.

As a mom, I want to protect my children from all pain, so obviously I reach for the product that gently helps me do that. For years, my diaper bag had diapers, natural wipes, and Balmex. Balmex with ActivGuard contains zinc oxide, vitamin B5 and vitamin E, and works to form a protective barrier to seal out wetness, so before bed time or a long road trip, I never forget to apply it. It’s easy to clean off too so no worries about mess, and I can find it anywhere (I usually pick it up at Toys R Us or CVS, but it’s also available at Wal-Mart and Walgreens, Kmart, and Babies R Us).

There was one memorable (and horrible) day when we took a road trip, and it was before I was a convert to using diaper rash cream regularly (I actually never did). I would notice my son’s tushy looking a little irritated at times, but I was always on top of diaper changes quickly so didn’t think I really needed it. Until the road trip, when my son fell asleep and soiled his diaper, and we had no idea because he wasn’t awake to alert us.

crying

That night was a long one…he suffered, had a horrible rash, we couldn’t sleep because he was crying (and I was racked with guilt), so my husband ran out to a 24 hour CVS and returned with Balmex. Ever since, there was always a tube in my diaper bag or purse to fight diaper rash. I want happy boys.

That’s what we used! Our middle son had about 10+ poops a day as an infant courtesy of Celiac Disease. Balmax was the best way to keep him as comfortable as we could! Thanks for sharing the coupon!

This is a wonderful product and makes a great shower gift. I will share this coupon with my friend. She has two little ones in diapers.

Although my babies are older I remember bad diaper rashes all too well. I will certainly be sharing this coupon with my sister since she is still going through the diaper days!
