This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Kikkoman and Latina Bloggers Connect.
Mixing it up a bit in the kitchen can be a lot of fun, because while the visitors may change, the family that lives here is the same, and they like a little variety. So, I’ve been having some fun this summer creating new recipes for our outdoor picnics and barbecues, whether it’s a full blow party or simply a small get-together with a few appetizers and side dishes being passed around.
I recently created an utterly delicious recipe with grilled chicken breast and Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce that is surprisingly easy to make (and like always, I try to use ingredients any of us can find readily available in our pantry). Easy and delicious is the name of the game for busy moms.
So, without further ado, the appetizer that will be the hit at your next family party: Grilled Shrimp Teriyaki Skewers!
Grilled Shrimp Teriyaki Skewers Appetizer Recipe
Ingredients
8 jumbo shrimp, pealed and cleaned
1 red pepper cut into one inch wedges
1/2 cup pineapple cut into small cubes
1/3 cup Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
4 wooden skewers
Directions
1. Mix Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce with brown sugar in a small bowl until sugar dissolves and set aside
2. Thread shrimp, pineapple, and pepper onto wooden skewers, alternating to create about two sets on each
3. Brush skewers with Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce/brown sugar mixture until each piece coated
3. Grill skewers for about 8 minutes or so, turning over halfway through
Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce that adds a tangy, savory flavor when added to meat before cooking. The name teriyaki actually meals “glaze-broiled” and comes from the sheen this simple mix of soy sauce and spices creates on food. It adds such a wonderful flavor to the shrimp, pineapple, and peppers that is just incredible.
Teriyaki has been popular ever since it was first created in Japan and is amazing on so many meats. Try making these kebabs with chicken or steak too- sooo good! Japanese-Americans in Hawaii often add fresh ginger, brown sugar, pineapple juice and green onions to produce teriyaki, and this recipe would be wonderful with these added to the Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade and Sauce on days you have a bit more time.

These look delicious! My family won’t eat shrimp, but I love it. I think I’ll have a get together so I can make these and have guests to eat them with me! 🙂

You had me at brown sugar. I hope there is a study done some day that says brown sugar extends your life or makes her hair shinier. Can’t wait to try these skewers!
