Easter Baskets Filled With Fun

This post brought to you by The Hershey Company. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis.

Easter time for young children tends to center around baby bunnies and candy, and it’s no surprise that candy is the number one item purchased during the Easter season. What else do you fill their Easter baskets with, or hide in colorful plastic eggs around the lawn for the annual Easter egg-hunt?

So what does it take to make an epic Easter basket? I wanted to create something unique that I haven’t seen before, yet still colorful, and fun. It needed to have WOW! factor, so my children would be excited when they saw it, and not just eat all the candy and toss the rest aside.

The Hershey Company has a wide variety of treats to fill up every Easter basket we create with joy, and that became the centerpiece around which we created our epic Easter basket plan.

I have two children, and I wanted to include them in creating the Easter basket. I couldn’t think of anything that was amazing to put in a basket, because they have too many toys, and more toys to become bored of after ten minutes wasn’t epic.

So I decided to create an Easter Land with bunnies and baskets and candy, where my children could have fun playing while I was putting it all together.

This is Speedy Bunny…

speedy bunny

Hershey’s Solid Milk Chocolate Speedy Bunny is a sporty dude who lives in a blue Easter basket with his friends, Lamb and Chick. The white Lamb loves Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs in milk chocoate, and the yellow Chick loves them in white chocolate.

When Speedy Bunny is in the mood to go for a run, he heads out past Carrot Fields, where carrots filled with Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates line the road, and Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs Candy Carrots are growing aplenty for the little field bunnies to enjoy (my sons felt they needed green leaves so created their own to top the Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs Candy Carrots).

Mini bunny baskets lay about in Carrot Field, each with a Cadbury Creme Egg Candy…yep, it’s that time of year again, that perennial favorite is back!

Speedy Bunny keeps racing until he arrives at the house of his friend, Princess Bunny, Hershey’s Solid Milk Chocolate Princess who is perfect for the Easter baskets of all the princesses you know. She’s a fancy chocolate bunny, so of course her pretty, scallop trimmed Easter basket home is decorated with crystal-beveled Easter eggs filled with Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans, as well as Jolly Rancher Easter Shaped Lollipops. Speedy Bunny knows that a princess deserves the best, so he comes bearing a lollipop as he calls her down from her basket terrace.

And this is our Easter town…a basket for each child, filled with treats, and lots more treats along the way, in a creative little playtown for our kids to have the characters and candies interact and play together…before they are all gobbled down. It’s time to take the traditional Easter basket to a new level! How do you like our Easter basket town?
