New Car Shopping + Cars.com Is Going To Help Someone Pay For Theirs #NewCarFace Contest

We are shopping for a new car, because my beloved Toyota Camry is now 13 years old. It’s still running well, but I noticed it cough a bit last winter a few mornings. Since we are going to be heading out into the world on many cold winter days this year for early school mornings, as well as take more road trips now that we have two little guys who are growing up and are very well-behaved gentlemen, it’s time to get something new. An SUV is preferable for us at this stage.

So we started car shopping.

Does this sound familiar? You thought you’d love a car you saw on the road, only to sit inside it during a test drive and realize it has massive blind spotsfor you, or thought “No way!” about a car and after your spouse convinces you to give it a try, you realize “Wow, this car rides like a dream! And so many luxury features!” Yep, that’s been me all summer.

I narrowed my favorites down to two, and the test driving has been part of the fun. One dealership I stepped into with two small children was interesting- I was immediately approached by a salesman who pointed to a tiny red convertible and said “That’s the car for you!” Really? A two-seater? Haha! I thought he was kidding and started to point out the vehicle I was interested it, and he said “No really, can’t you see yourself in this thing? Use your imagination. Want to take it on the road with me now?” I thought to myself he must be new at this, because you can’t sell a mom with a husband and two kids under six a two-door, two-seat sports car unless it’s the family’s extra toy car, but he’ll pick that up pretty quickly on his own. Then I thought “Maybe he’s trying to win a bet” because you can’t be a salesman and not know that. Either way, I still tell that story and laugh about it every time.

Show us your #newcarface for a chance to win!

  • I love how cars.com is straight to the point, can’t wait to see what you buy.

  • This is such an awesome contest. It took us 5-6 years to pay off our car but this could have saved us all those years of payments!

  • What was that salesperson thinking? That’s ridiculous. Winning $25K towards a new car will go a long way!

  • We’ve had the chance to test drive a few new vehicles this year, and I totally get what you’re saying about your car…because mine is 16 years old! I would love to win that dough to get me a new one as I’m coveting those new ones we’ve had a chance to drive just a little bit (oh who am I kidding, a lot!)

  • I love this contest. You look good in that car.

  • That would be an awesome prize, specially since we just bought two new cars this year! Good Luck on your car hunting and purchasing.

  • I would love to win that. Then I could buy the 2-seater sports car and look cool. 🙂

  • We’ll be looking for a new car soon, so I’ll definitely be checking out cars.com.

  • Is it weird that I’ve never test driven a vehicle without someone else being with me and I’m thinking about test driving a car soon by myself, but am nervous about it. LOL!

  • Whenever I do get a new car, I assure you my new car face will be giddy beyond belief! I am so over the one I’m driving. Actually I was over it the moment I got it.

  • Buying a new car can be a challenge. I remember buying one three years ago. Good luck with your decision.

I feel the same way! My husband says “I’ll watch the kids and you check out the car” and I get totally scared at the prospect.

  • I haven’t seen cars.com before. I’ll check them out when I’m ready for a new car.

  • We will be looking for a new car in the next year too. I hate car shopping. I would love to win one! 🙂

  • This is my kind of contest, thank you for sharing about it so I can go and enter! And love your car face!!!

  • We’re looking for a car for my daughter and I’ll definitely be checking out Cars.com.

  • I would love to get a new car but we have to wait another 2 years.

  • What a great promotion, it’s fun to test drive new cars. I’m hoping the salesman wasn’t serious about selling you the convertible!

  • We recently got new (for us :)) car, it still is not big enough for us but I know exactly what you are going through!

  • My husband needs a new car & a new car face. He’s been driving the same car for too long & it doesn’t even fit all of the kids. So we have to swap any time he’s going to take all 3 of them. Cars.com save us!
