My home makeover this last year has made me creative with how I use a variety of items, both for practical reason and just because I like to be unique with home decor, so something like a gorgeous, plush teal arm chair would become a boho computer chair for me (totally out of the norm of standard computer chairs, and yet very me). The tv stand I got from Sauder is designated a tv stand, for me it’s a printer station, a toy and craft supply organizer, a gadget charging station, and the perfect storage unit for our nursery- everything is neatly displayed and easily accessible.
Let’s face it, with two flat surfaces and so much open space, it is an incredibly versatile piece of furniture and can be used for anything you want- a tv stand seems too limiting a term for such a multi-functional piece. Other great uses would be as a buffet server in a dining area of the home, with room underneath for supplies and a flat top surface to lay out food (just put a pretty tablecloth on top if you want to cover the utensils and other items underneath); a daily launch pad by the front door to hold school bags, work brief cases, and anything else you need to start the day, or to drop everything onto when you come home at night; an area in your home for all your family’s stationery supplie, incoming and outgoing mail, and bills; and so much more. My husband even suggested we get one for our laundry room because we need something to hold all our supplies while keeping them easily accessible and out in the open. It makes it easy to see when something needs to be replenished, and what we have.
How do you put your furniture to work to multitask for you? Do you prefer versatile pieces of furniture that can do double duty too?
