A Fun And Kid Friendly Halloween #StreamTeam

Some people think we’re nuts because we don’t watch regular TV around here, but I’ve been a member of Netflix since before I was married, and can’t recall ever having regular tv or cable. When we got married I converted my husband to Netflix, and we’ve been renting Netflix dvds or streaming ever since. This year I joined Netflix’s Stream Team to share some of our favorites throughout the year, because it’s always on our TV anyway and we have so many we want to share!

Now that we have children, we appreciate the fact there is Netflix Kids, a section with safe viewing just for children. There are some teen shows on there I’m still cautious about, but we watch everything our children watch, because at two and five they really don’t need to hear about teen dating drama yet. They do love all things Halloween though, because it’s a candy and costume holiday, and lots of fun, so we’ve been watching some kid-friendly Halloween shows together.

There are so many family friendly shows, and my personal favorite for my children is Curious George. I LOVE Curious George! I love how educational it is, how innocent it is, and how patient and sweet the man in the yellow hat is with his young and curious charge…he inspires me! We are as amused at George’s antics and curiosity as he is, and my children learn math and science and geography and more along with George… I love this show!

Curious George’s BooFest is now available for streaming, so of course we’ve been watching it and it’s our favorite Halloween show. It’s funny and Halloween themed without any creepy, scary, gory aspects (and I get scared easily myself so I prefer tamer too!). Netflix has a slew of other family friendly Halloween shows that we love so we want to share our favorites with you:

Our Favorite Kid-Friendly Halloween Shows

1. Curious George: A Halloween BooFest

2. Barney: Halloween Party

3. Casper’s Scare School

4. DreamWorks Spooky Stories and

5. Spooky Stories Volume 2

These shows are all Halloween-themed, and some have a bit of the macabre, but not in any way at all that would terrorize children and keep them up at night. The focus is on fun, costumes, candy, and a little “Boo!” and I love watching them all with my boys because they are also funny!

And if you’re looking for spookier, scarier, adult Halloween movies, check out Netflix.com/Halloween.

  • We just got NetFlix and can’t wait to check it out.

  • I just got this too and love it for my daughter.

  • This is a great list of kids’ Halloween shows. I’ll have to share them with my grandkids.

  • Although most of us love a good fright when it comes to our Halloween movies, my 5-year-old just isn’t ready. Those are great suggestions for festive films, that won’t keep us up at night.

  • I haven’t seen Casper in ages… I used to love watching him.:)

  • Great list! Casper has always been one of my favorites. I’ll definitely have to check it out on Netflix. As for television, the only time I watch TV is whenever one of my favorite shows (i.e. The Walking Dead, Revenge, and Pretty Little Liars) are on. I have never been much a TV person. 🙂

  • We can’t seem to get enough of Netflix. I love that they seem to have a show or movie that can relate to any holiday or life event.
