A Wardrobe Created Just For Your Body

My body is a unique shape. Most of us have bodies that don’t fit a specific mold, but we buy cookie cutter clothes in department stores or online that we hope come close when we shop our general size. Sometimes the clothing looks great, and other times it’s a disappointing miss, especially when it’s an item that is beautiful or fashionable that we really wanted to add to our wardrobe.

I spent years trying to find flattering clothes for my curvy body, because my waist is much smaller than my hips. I’d look for spandex to accommodate a curvier bottom, or have the waist taken in, but because the clothes weren’t designed for my shape from the start, tailoring can be very expensive and still not look quite right.

If it doesn’t fit you, it doesn’t flatter you

Then I found a company called eShakti, based in India and with the distinction of offering customization on all their beautiful and affordable clothes. They have so many lovely items, very feminine dresses and colorful clothing. At first I thought I would try them out by picking out clothing in my size. I’m not sure why…I think I was hoping I could save on customizations if their size 4 fit me perfectly, but customizing clothing with eShakti is only $7.50, so I was being ridiculously thrifty, and as a result I was disappointed. The waist was too big on a beautiful dress, and I felt my hopes dashed with another failure. Then I realized I wasn’t being fair, the basis of their company was custom clothing, so I gave them another shot and sent over my measurements with my next order.

I fell in love with the dress…fully lined, quality fabrics, beautiful drape:

eShakti dresses bring to mind a time that women sewed their own clothes, with patterns and dress forms that were measured to their own proportions, so everything fit beautifully and flattered. I think of the women in the 1950s who wore simple shirts and pencil skirts yet wore them tailored in a way that left no one mistaking these were women, and the young village bride in The Godfather who wore simple, girlish dresses similar to this one that struck her husband-to-be like a thunderbolt. Ready-to-wear clothing is convenient, but it shouldn’t be the bulk of our wardrobes. Instead, cultivating a smaller wardrobe with very beautiful, well-fitting pieces, from shirts and jackets to skirts and dresses, would make us look and feel so much more attractive…we’d finally have something to wear when we open our closets!

Always have something that looks great to wear!

When I open my closet door and see this dress, it’s often the first one I take off the hanger to wear, because it fits just right. As a result of utterly loving a few pieces I bought, I decided to become an affiliate (it’s the only thing I am promoting as an affiliate, because it’s something I buy so much of and love myself), and now every time I buy a dress I will share it so you can see what it looks like on a real person, and decide if it’s right for you. First time sign ups can get a free customization, and $30 off, so take advantage of that! In addition to sending your measurements for a perfect fit, you can also change the length, the neckline, and add or change the type of sleeves- there are so many ways to customize your eShatki dress! You can remove embroidery or pockets (all dresses come standard with pockets, which I love), and no matter how many customizations you do, it’s a flat fee of $7.50.

$7.50 flat rate for any customizations + $30 off first order

eShakti often sends surprise gift codes (that are stackable), promo codes, and more…right now everything on their site is 40% off and you would still get $30 off the first order and free customization. You’ll find building a custom, gorgeous, feminine wardrobe can be more affordable than shopping in your department store for prêt-à-porter clothing, that off the rack clothing that often just doesn’t cut it. Women are unique and our bodies are all different, so we should dress for the body we have, and focus on emphasizing our lovelier attributes. Ready to rock your wardrobe?

  • Everything looks good on you but I do like that dress. I tried eshakti before but it seems like I need to give it another shot.

  • I have issues with clothing all looks the time. I really, really like your dress. It looks lovely on you.

  • Rachel

This looks great! I love yoru dress and it fits you nicely.

  • That design and cut are simply gorgeous! I also agree with you that convenient, ready to wear pieces shouldn’t be the bulk of one’s wardrobe. They’re not always the most flattering. That’s why I’ve been slowly yet surely dwindling down my wardrobe pieces over the past few months.

  • Looks fantastic and you look great in those pics. How did you light it?

  • What a beautiful dress and looks amazing on you! I’ve been thinking about trying a custom dress from them…I’m definitely doing to do it for Christmas!

  • I hate how I look in dresses because I’m overweight so I would love to see how it would turn out if I custumized it.

  • Penelope

This is the kitchen light overhead (I use a “daylight bulb” for natural light)

  • I don’t wear dresses (I’m a sweats and T-shirt kind of girl), but you look amazing though.

  • It sounds like it’s a good thing you gave them a second try. That’s a gorgeous dress.

  • I love eshakti, being very very petite it has served me well purchasing clothing from them. My pants always come with the correct inseam, and shoulders aren’t falling off my body when ordering tops for myself. That dress is so cute on you!

  • I got a chance to try this on Mac’s site and loved it. BTW that dress looks amazing on you.

  • It looks absolutely perfect on you. A custom fit is always the way to go!

  • You look absolutely gorgeous in that dress. I wear a lot of dresses; they’re just so easy to feel put together in. But I would love something as flattering and well-fitting as this piece.
