Christmas Sugar Cookies #HolidayBaking

This post brought to you by Glad & M&M’S®. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis.

We bake. We decorate. We wrap. We get together with loved ones and talk and laugh. It’s a warm, cozy, busy time of year and I love every minute. I recently had some girlfriends over for a mid-week baking party, because why not? I was in the mood to make some goodies, and they were too, so we gathered at my house for cookie making fun. We all have kids who will be grateful for it!

Did somebody say Christmas Sugar Cookies??

Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe

I was inspired to make sugar cookies decorated with Christmas colors and M&M’S Holiday Baking Minis from a Chocolate Espresso Peppermint Bites recipe I found on a Glad Holiday package (with a few changes, since I didn’t particularly want to offer our hyper kids espresso anything).

Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe

1 package sugar cookies mix
1 egg
1 stick butter, softened
1 package M&M’S Holiday Baking Minis
1/2 cup edible sugar glitter sprinkles
1 can prepared frosting

1. Mix sugar cookie mix with egg and butter in a bowl into a batter, and place tablespoonful drops about 3 inches apart on a cookie sheet or parchment paper.
2. Bake at 375 for about eight minutes, or until cookies are golden yellow.
3. Let cookies cool on a cooling rack, then frost (we used a green holiday frosting that is vanilla flavored).
4. Cover frosted sugar cookies with glitter sprinkles and M&M’S Holiday Baking Minis.

So how did they come out? Aren’t these beautiful for gifts? Hostess gifts, work parties, awesome neighbors…they’d all love treats, and how cute is this Glad package?

Glad makes great storage products, but it wasn’t until I saw the Glad Holiday packaging that I knew I could use them to gift baked goodies too. They are only available at Target and a great way to keep goodies fresh until everyone is ready to eat them, especially with Glad’s Holiday Edition Press ‘n Seal. On the back of each package are exclusive holiday recipes featuring M&M’S® White Chocolate Peppermint (also only available at Target) and M&M’S® Holiday Baking Mini’s (and if you like dark mint, they are also available in M&M’S® Holiday Dark Mint for holiday baking).

In addition to picking up fun baking products at Target, I also picked up some decorations, including red and gold Christmas balls, a simple wreath for my front door with poinsettias, and battery operated LED lights so I can add pretty lights anywhere inside and outside my house, and my sister and friends helped me make my home beautiful while the cookies baked…then we sat and had a great time together, like always.
