Help Bring The Comforts Of Home To Our Troops While Enjoying @MarieCallender’s Dinner #ComfortsFromHome

This post brought to you by Marie Callender’s. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis.

This week was incredibly busy for us, between school plays and teacher meetings, and planning birthday parties and Thanksgiving dinner. I didn’t have time to cook everyday, so I picked up some  Marie Callender’s dinners that my husband likes (particularly Turkey Pot Pie), and made it a cozy night at home with a hearty dinner that just needed to be baked in our oven.

Marie Callender’s creates homemade meals and desserts made with high-quality ingredients and signature special touches that allow your family to slow down and savor together. Marie Callender’s launched the Comforts From Home Project this fall, so that when you purchase specially marked packages of Marie Callender’s dinners and desserts and enter the eight-digit code found on the back online at www.ComfortsFromHome.com, they will send a donation to USO2GO. My package let me know that entering my code resulted in a $0.50 donation for our brave service men and women in the U.S. military who are overseas, bravely protecting all of us here in the U.S. everyday, and who would really enjoy the comforts of home our support will provide them.

comforts from home

USO2GO is a USO program that brings kits filled with electronics, sports gear, books, games and more to troops stationed in remote locations around the world, comforts many of us enjoy, such as games, athletic equipment, books and furnishings. USO2GO kits help to transform a remote base into a place where troops can organize a pick-up football game, relax in beanbag chairs and swap stories, or send e-mails to loved ones back home.

For every entry by 1/31/2015 of an 8-digit code found on participating products, Marie Callender’s will donate $.50 to the USO2GO program

Visit ComfortsfromHome.com to learn more about how you can join Marie Callender’s in helping to bring a little bit of home sweet home to our U.S. service men and women overseas. Marie Callender’s guarantees a minimum donation of $100,000, and will donate up to $250,000 with our help (limit 5 code entries per person/computer each day; Valid in U.S. Only).

Many of you have probably heard of Thunderclap, but for those who haven’t, it is a tool that helps a message reach a wider audience through social media, especially when promoting a good cause. Marie Callender’s will launch a Thunderclap on 11/30 if they meet their supporter goal, and you can sign up to support this effort and help our troops more right now by visiting Thunderclap and sharing this message:

  • These are so tasty! We buy them in bulk at Sam’s Club & Costco, and out of the microwave they’re just as good as oven baked. We really enjoy them for quick dinners. I like that they are supporting the troops too, that always makes me want to purchase a product more when I see that on packaging.

  • I love to buy those for my son! He practically inhales them. What is it about potpies that’s so comforting?!

  • I love homemade pot pie and I can honestly say that Marie Callender’s are the next best thing. I bought the family size chicken pot pie last week and my family loved it! And kudos to them for supporting our troops!

  • What a great campaign. I love pot pies too they remind me of childhood and they are oh so yummy.

  • What a great program, I’m sure all the items sent are much appreciated.

  • My husband use to eat these all the time.

  • What a wondrous campaign! I absolutely love pot pies – just thinking about them makes me hungry.

  • I have no idea how challenging it must be to be away from home and family, especially around the holidays. It’s wonderful there is support for those who are so far from the comforts of home.

  • Oh this is amazing, I love Marie Calendars. I love they are supporting our troups.
