The 2014 Kia Soul

The 2014 Kia Soul made it’s way onto my driveway recently one rainy day for a weeklong test drive, and the site of a bright yellow vehicle took me by surprise. It took many people by surprise, because this is one noticeable car:

My husband said it was a girl’s car, and after taking it for a spin, declared it was definitely a girl’s car, because it’s so cute. It even has mood lighting that changes colors and pumps with the beat of the music base.. I found myself agreeing with him… when I was in college, I would have enjoyed driving around with the Kia Soul while out with the girls, heading to the mall or the beach. It’s a bit of a prepster vehicle, so I can see a young male law student riding around in it also.

The 2014 Kia Soul we reviewed is the Solar Yellow Kia plus model with features like navigation with an 8 inch screen, an infinity audio system (cool looking spiral speakers everywhere), speaker lights (those changing mood lights), a panoramic sunroof (great for road trips and star gazing), and heated seats and stearing wheel. It’s well equipped for fun and road adventures with friends, and while (as a mom) I found the lack of cargo space not ideal, if I were single or had older children, I wouldn’t mind that so much.

There are safety features that matter to me, like a rear camera display and keyless entry (these are mandatory for me now), and driving it around was very comfortable. It’s an excellent price also…my well-loaded review model is only $24,010. We are looking for a new vehicle this year, and we need a lot of room (we are definitely getting an SUV) but 15 years ago, my college self would have had a great time with this car.

  • It would probably be a perfect size for me since my kids are older. I love the sunny color too.

  • It’s cute and my daughter LOVES yellow so she’d definitely like it!

  • I love the color – so cheery! 🙂

what a sweet ride! love the color as well!

  • Looks like a great car. I love the color of the car. So fun!

  • It’s super cute but I’d definitely get in in another color.

  • We got to drive this earlier in the year on a road trip down to San Antonio. We were pleasantly surprised by its handling. And yes, my nearly 18 year old daughter would have loved to have kept it! So college cute is appropriately described here LOL!

  • This is super cute and I love the color!!! I think having a camera to see when your backing up is awesome!

  • I love the color – bright and cheery!

I love this yellow Kia Soul, I had a green one and was obsessed with it.

  • Love the Kia Soul and that color is awesome. I really like the navigation feature – must have for me in a vehicle.

  • We are a KIA family but I haven’t checked out the Soul yet. We will be shopping for a new car and I will have to test drive this one for sure!

  • I would have gotten one of these prior to having my daughter. Between toting her around and lugging DIY & gardening supplies I need a full size SUV

  • I really like this car for a college student. It is such a fun ride.

  • I’d love to drive around town in a Kia Soul. Looks like a great car for roominess and fun.

  • Solar yellow – awesome name for a color! I’m so glad you liked it but I totally get the need for more cargo space. Kia has become one of my fave auto brands!

  • Sounds like a fun car to drive around for a while but definitely wouldn’t work for my family. I bet my kids would have a blast with the colors and stuff from the music.

  • The Kia Soul sure has changed over the years. It looks much more stylish now.

  • The Soul looks like a lot of fun and comes at an affordable price too. I agree and think it would make a perfect vehicle for a younger college or grad student!
