Our home is the place my family spends the majority of our time, where we eat and sleep and play and create memories. It was important to us, after having our second son, to buy a home they could grow up in, with space to grow, run around, and have fun. We decided we were done with condos and wanted a yard, so this fall we bought our first new family home.
We’ve been renovating for the last three months straight, turning our house into our dream home, and since we are almost done and I’ll be sharing all my after photos soon, I figure it’s time to share the befores. We pretty much gutted the house and redid everything except the plumbing and electric (the only things that didn’t need to be updated).
The Befores

For our home renovation projects we retiled floors and walls, replaced cabinets, knocked down walls, put walls and doorways were there were none before, removed carpet and refinished the glorious hardwood floors we found underneath, and updated all the windows. It was a labor of love and we are in love with the results. All that remains to ready our home is to paint it all with some fabulous Behr paints we chose, pick out our window dressings, clean it all up, and move our stuff in. We are almost there!
Stay tuned for our home renovation updates!

Looks like a cute home! I can hardly wait to see the after pictures.
So excited to see the final product. I never understand why people hide hardwood!
we had done a ton of renovation to our old home, and it was fun, but time consuming. I’m glad our new home is truly NEW and doesn’t need much done to it.
I had no idea you were doing it over to that extent! But it’s all so exciting!
So much potential! Looking forward to seeing those “After” photos.
Wow, you guys have been doing ALOT of work. I can’t wait to see the finished project.
You’ve been on this journey for far too long! I can’t wait to see the finished product – it’s going to look amazing! What a fantastic first home!
I wish I had taken more before photos of our home. I’m excited for you… I love updating/renovating homes. If I had the money (and the economy was better), I would love to flip houses. :)
I have a ton I still want to do on my house. I’m excited to see the after pictures.
I can’t wait to see the photos as you complete your renovations.
I can’t wait to see the afters! We have done a lot to our house in the almost three years we’ve been here but we still have a long way to go!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I can not wait until I can see the finish product! I bet it will look amazing though. :) But I am sure you are just ready for it all to be done so you can just live it in! :)
I am so glad we don’t have to remodel this house. We did the last one, but this one is brand spanking new.
Hi,
This must’ve been a large project ; how did you even begin to decide to do all of this? I’m thinking of renovating too, but I don’t even know where to start. Do you have any tips on which rooms are the best too start with, and was there any method to your madness (or did you just pick a room by random to start with)? Thanks for the help.
Alana
