Car Clean Ups And 5 Minute Home Cleaning Fire Drills With BISSELL

This post brought to you by BISSELL Homecare, Inc.. All opinions are 100% mine.

In our home, the floors are all hard wood or carpet, and because I have children, I like to keep it all super clean (if they drop food, they will pick it up and eat it, so I need floors clean enough to eat off of). An easy to use, light-weight vacuum that doesn’t make me dread hauling it out supports my desire to keep our floors spotless, so I am really looking forward to trying out the new BISSELL PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology.

We have carpeted walk in closets, runners on our hardwood floors, and both the boys have beautiful, plush carpeting in their bedrooms, so a good deal of our house requires vacuuming. and I just want it to be easy!

Key Features of the BISSELL PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology

  • It’s a sealed system with no loss of its powerful suction
  • It is lightweight and has a long stretch hose to reach high and under
  • It has Swivel steering to maneuver it around easily, including an adjustable handle that makes it easier to store
  • It has a large capacity dust cup so you can keep going
  • A 27 foot cord (!!) lets you reach really far from the outlet (like maybe my car- I need to vacuum it at least weekly with my messy kids)

Here are some of my own cleaning tips:

Keeping The Family Car Clean

We spend a lot of time in the car, especially now that school is back in session. As a result, a lot of eating and playing happens in the car, so there are crackers in the car seat, crumbs on the floor, and a medley of other messes. As a result, at least once a week I have a “Cleaning Fire Drill” where I run out to the car for ten minutes to clean, before my vehicle is declared an official disaster area.

I just pick up any and all pieces of waste and crumbs I can get to put into a bag to toss, dust off the dashboard and wipe the mirrors, and try to make sure anything that is loose isn’t a flying danger in case I ever have to hit the breaks. I used to have a small portable vacuum to clean the floors but it wasn’t very powerful, and I didn’t like going to the gas station to use their pay-per-use car vacuum, so I’m excited to test drive our new BISSELL PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology for my weekly car clean ups!

Quick Home Cleaning Touch Ups

There are days when I’m so incredibly busy that having a spare 30 minutes is a luxury, but things still need to be done, so I do the same “Cleaning Fire Drill” around the house that I do for the car. I basically take that 5 minutes I may have at the beginning or end of the day and use it to run around and hit the most important points of the house.

I pick up strewn toys so no one trips. I clear all food off the counters and wipe them down quickly. I empty all the garbage bins and replace/replenish tissues and towels. I keep boxes of wipes around to quickly wipe up messes and spills, and clean off surfaces and fixtures as well. I do a quick, “center room” vacuum (no moving of heavy furniture) to keep things neat and looking good, and I feel that at the very least, I am devoting at least 5 minutes on my crazy busy days to keeping our family home in order.

  • I’ve owned many vacs in my day. My current Bissell is my favorite as it is lightweight and actually works, with a swipe of the area that needs to be vacuumed. I really need to clean my car more often, it is trashed from the kiddos.

  • I’ve never had a Bissell vacuum before, but I have their carpet spot cleaning machine, it’s wonderful for those accidental spills.

  • The long cord alone has me sold!

  • I love our Bissell! Always does a great job!

  • I would love to get a new vacuum – with two kids and two dogs, I think my machine has lost its power.

  • I love Bissell vacuums, they always work so well, same with their steam cleaners.

  • I have a Hoover right now that was pretty good in the beginning but not so great now – we’re looking to upgrade! This vac sounds pretty impressive.

  • Our vacuum does a good job but it’s so heavy – I dread having to lug it out every other day to keep our carpet clean. I would love a more lightweight one like this Bissell.

  • Only the upper level of our home is carpeted so having a vacuum that is lightweight with a good hose is key for our stairs and baseboard areas.

  • This sounds like a fantastic vacuum!

  • Donna

I don’t have a Bissell, but a place I volunteer at has one that I use there and I’ve been very impressed with it. The contest looks good, too!

  • I seem to be vacuuming all the time, between a messy 6 year old and big hairy dog.

  • I have never owned a Bissell personally, but it looks like a great tool! Love that the plug in cord is so long, that makes it super convenient!

  • Mellisa

Your carpets look super clean and nice! Bissell is a great product.

  • I love cleaning fire drills, they are an easy way to get so much done in a little time throughout the day.

  • My car definitely needs a good vacuuming, but my current vacuum isn’t any good for that. I may need a second one!

  • The swivel steering is a great feature!

  • I hate having to plug and unplug the vacuum over and over as I move through the house. This would be so convenient!

  • “Cleaning Fire Drill” – love that term. I need to implement that.

  • Your carpets look amazing!

  • Beautiful carpet, we have some carpet in our house but the landlord put in cheap carpet. A good vacuum cleaner can make a world of difference.

  • We have a Bissell for our carpets…love it.

  • I like your cleaning fire drill idea. You can get a lot done in 5 minutes. Kudos to you for keeping your house so clean. I wish my floors were clean enough to eat off of.

  • We don’t have carpets any more but I still own a vacuum, and it’s a Bissell.

  • We only have carpet upstairs but it would be great to have something like this to help keep it clean.
