The Exergen Temporal Scanner Thermometer

exergen thermometer for kids
When your baby is sick, taking their temperature can be very difficult. Exergen has created a genius thermometer for children that allows parents to take their child’s temperature easily, and your baby doesn’t even have to be awake! The Exergen Temporal Scanner Thermometer is an easy to use forehead thermometer, and this temporal scanner is as accurate as rectal or oral thermometers, and more accurate than taking temperature with an ear thermometer or under the arm.

The Temporal Scanner Thermometer provides a digital read-out of your baby’s temperature within seconds, and there is no discomfort involved, which is great for parents who hesitate to use rectal thermometers (like my husband). Best of all, it can be used on a sleeping baby, so you don’t have to struggle trying to keep a thermometer in your baby’s mouth or tug on his ear to get a temperature.

The Exergen Temporal Scanner reads temperature by capturing naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery as it is swept gently over the forehead. It takes 1,000 readings per second and selects the most accurate through its Arterial Heat Balance system. It is not affected by environmental factors such as drinking a cold glass of water or skin blood flow changes, which can affect other methods and make them less reliable. The Temporal Scanner can be used for patients of any age, and the fact that this digital forehead thermometer is noninvasive makes it a practical choice if your baby is vomiting, suffering from diarrhea, or has an ear infection, any of which can make taking temperature orally, rectally, or tympanically (by ear) very difficult and possibly even painful.

The Exergen Temporal Scanner Key Points

  • Easy to use at any age, noninvasive
  • More affordable than ear thermometers and more comfortable than rectal and oral thermometers
  • Uses infrared sensor technology (no mercury)
  • No covers needed and can be used on a sweating baby
  • As accurate as a rectal temperature
  • Manufactured in the US

And it’s a great idea for a new mom or baby shower gift.

I was sent an Exergen Temporal Scanner to review for this post. Opinions are 100% my own.

I just got one of these for my three boys (ages 4, 2, and 6 months) and I love love LOVE it. It makes temperature-taking so much easier, and the accuracy gives me peace of mind. 🙂
