Wake Up Beautiful: 5 Tips To Really Get Your #Beauty Sleep

Beauty Sleep Marilyn Monroe

Want to wake up beautiful? Night time happens to be the best time to get beautiful. Your body is resting, no one is looking, and you don’t have to do any work. Here are five tips to maxing out those sleeping hours and getting your Beauty Sleep:

1. Lay your pretty head on a satin pillow case. A satin pillowcase allows your hair and face to easily glide over the pillow, to reduce wrinkles naturally and prevent future wrinkles, as well as prevent knots in hair. You’ll wake up with hair as pretty as you went to sleep with, and less split ends (really)- talk about a way to wake up beautiful! Makes a blowout last days longer too.

2. Whiten your teeth A great way to whiten teeth quickly is to use an overnight whitening kit that contains a safe level of hydrogen peroxide for at home use. Bleaching teeth at home can give you pearly white teeth in only 14 days, and saves you a lot of money ($40 vs $600 in the dentist’s chair!).

3. Get soft feet and hands If you want to know how to treat dry skin on feet and hands, try this fabulous trick- apply a rich moisturizing body lotion (slather it on!), put on some socks and gloves, and hit the sheets. There are even special gloves and socks created just to help promote absorption and maximize softness, so you wake up from your beauty sleep with the softest tootsies imaginable. For really dry skin, apply vaseline.

4. Apply a face mask, deep hair conditioner, and zit cream No one can see you, so it’s time for hair repair and overnight zit removal. Cover your pillow with a towel, buy or create your favorite home remedies for zits, a face mask, and hair products, and let them do their work while you sleep. Just remember to wash off those zit cream white spots before you answer the door in the morning.

5. Sleep on your back Sleep positions affect your beauty. Sleeping on your stomach and face has been shown to cause wrinkles to develop much faster, and who wants to be young with wrinkles?  Sleeping on your back helps to prevent wrinkles from developing so soon. If you have to sleep on your sides, alternate the side each night to prevent face wrinkles from developing more noticeably on either side.

These beauty tips and tricks really work, so don’t delay…start to wake up beautiful right away! What are your favorite tips for beauty sleep?

Being old with wrinkles isn’t exactly pretty either. Chuckle.

  • Great tips, Penelope! I didn’t know that about the satin pillowcase. I definitely don’t need wrinkles, so I’ll have to pick one up.

  • Great tips! I love my satin pillowcase, minus all the static. Toothpaste is my perfect zit cream:)

  • Jessica

I’ve been trying to sleep on my back for ages now but for some reason, it just doesn’t work. Any tips on training ourselves to sleep that way? I will lay there for an hour wide awake, and then as soon as I turn on my side, it’s lights out. So bizarre.

  • Lisa @ Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy

I’m currently sleeping on my son’s pillow pet, its so soft lol

  • Every time I turn over onto my stomach, I think of wrinkles, but it’s just so comfortable!

  • Melinda

you forgot, drink plenty of water. I wake up with the driest lips when I haven’t hydrated properly the night before.

LOVE these beauty tips. I already do some of them 😉

  • Tammy

Oh, the only one I do is the dry hands and feet. I’ll have to try some of the others. Although I’m quite adverse to teeth whitening, I’m not completely convinced that it doesn’t ruin your tooth enamel.

  • Annie @ Mama Dweeb

I already sleep on my back, yay!! And I had NO idea about the satin pillowcase. Sounds perfectly delightful though, especially in the hot summer months!

  • Love these tips, sleeping on my back isn’t so comfy, but lately I have found when I do I actually feel more rested… funny how that works! I usually have FOUR of us in a queen size bed so … I don’t get sleep let alone beauty sleep most nights!

  • monique

I don’t have a satin pillow. I’ve never tried that. I remember when my parents had satin sheets and I used to slide all over the place LOL. Maybe the pillow is easier.

  • HilLesha

Great tips! I need to learn how to get comfortable with sleeping on my back since I have my sleeping on my side for ages.

  • HilLesha

Oops…I meant been instead of my.

  • Ugh – I desperately need to take that advice on the feet. Mine are just terrible!

  • Jacqui MacNeill

These are all great tips for putting the beauty back in “beauty sleep”! I like to also use essential oils as part of my routine. They are great for helping you sleep, especially oils like Lavender oil. You can also use them as part of your skin care regime, choosing ones specifically for your skin type. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  • Maryann

Sounds interesting but I would not whiten my teeth. that stuff scares me.

  • Mellisa

These are great tips. My granny used to sleep on a satin pillow 🙂 I guess I need to get me one.

  • Well, I have the satin pillowcases goining on, but can’t stay on my back to sleep.

  • I’ve really been trying to sleep on my back more and it’s taking a lot of work to force myself to do it. But I try!

  • I do try to sleep on my back.

  • Getting a satin pillowcase! Maybe my hair won’t be such a knotted up mess in the mornings.

  • I have tried satin before. The material seems to make my head hot. I do need to do something with my hands and feet. I will give your idea a try.

  • hmm.. never thought about sleeping on your back as being a deterrent for wrinkles! I’m a side sleeper so I think I’ll try switching it up if I remember.

  • Jennifer

There’s no way I can sleep on my back so I’ll have to invest in a satin pillowcase. 🙂

  • Do you have any brand recommendations on the feet socks or hand gloves … the ones that you can wear at night to help soften your skin?

  • I suppose I should get a satin pillow, since my satin pillow case comes right off my pillow. It slips off by halfway through the night…. guess I’m a restless sleeper.

  • Penelope

For feet I use a plain cotton pair of socks, but for hands I’ve actually used latex (non powdered) gloves to really make the lotion absorb deeply and get super smooth hands. I don’t know a foot version of those gloves 🙂

  • A nice soft and comfy pillow really helps me to sleep good!! I think I need to give myself a pedicure 🙂
