Teach My Toddler- A Gift Of Learning

teach toddler to read

Teach My is an award-winning, all-in-one series of learning kits for babies, toddlers and preschoolers that allows parents to teach their children age appropriate concepts and vocabulary. We tried out the Teach My Toddler kit, for children 18+ months, which provided books, flash cards, puzzles and posters to help teach your child colors, numbers, letters and shapes.

The various parts of the Teach My Toddler kit encourage everything from memorization and vocabulary, to differentiating things within a category, concepts, and even motor skills. If your child does not do well with puzzles but excels when using flash cards, this kit is all inclusive, so you can work with your child’s strengths, vary it up a bit when they get bored with one particular aspect, and keep them engaged and challenged as you work with them daily to teach them to count, say and recognize the alphabet, learn their colors, and even start to recognize shapes.

Why we love Teach My Toddler:

  • The foam puzzle teaches children to both match shapes and properly put pieces together, exercising their skills of recognition as well and giving them an opportunity to practice motor skills. Taking the puzzles apart and putting them back together is a fun game.
  • The flash cards encourage memorization, and are both challenging and fun. Flash cards are generally considered to be a very effective teaching tool.
  • The poster boards act as a quick reference for the different learning categories that can be placed anywhere for fun pop quizzes, or if your child isn’t ready for puzzles yet. It also offers a different way of learning as all the letters, numbers, shapes and colors are together rather than individually offered up as in the flash cards. Now children have to find the right one when faced with other options.
  • The book helps children develop the habit of utilitizing books, which they will do for the rest of their lives. It also serves as a refresher for the new vocabulary they learned from the puzzles, poster boards and flash cards, in a different format.
  • The Teach My Toddler kit encourages families to turn off the tv, noise and distractions, and to spend time together interacting and having fun.
  • We like Teach My Toddler as a gift idea for parents or for your own family, especially after how much little man’s vocabulary skills increased as a result of working with him for 15 minutes a day. An accordian file holds everything together to tote along. Teach My Toddler retails for about $49.99 and is appropriate for children ages 18 months – 3 years.

Oooh I so have to get this for Landon. He’s older then Little Man and really hasn’t talked yet. But he’s starting to babble more. He’s smart as a whip though. I think he’s just being a brat and not wanting to talk lol.

Little man isn’t much of a talker, so we get excited by any communication we can get…we are so impressed to see him match the colors, though, or fit the puzzles in correctly. It shows us that, silent type that he is, he is also the very smart type 😉

    • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy

Sounds like a great product. My first son was slow to communicate too.

This looks like such a good learning tool for little ones. Wish I had known about it when my youngest was a few years younger.
